Walking along Brighton Beach, with my bff (pictured here), thinking about all the things that really matter to me. Like why I am vegan. ๐ฑ
There are so many reasons why I am vegan. Because why would I treat any sentiment being the way I wouldn't want to be treated? Isn't this a simple lesson we are taught as children? Treat others as you yourself would want to be treated? ๐ฑ
I'm vegan because I can't look an animal in the eye and take their life myself. Wouldn't I just be a walking hypocrite if I paid someone else to do that dirty work for me?
๐ฑ
I'm vegan because I don't believe in slavery, in rape, in taking something from someone that isn't mine (cow or goat breast milk, sperm, a new born calf, flesh, eggs, skin, fur).
๐ฑ
I'm vegan because I don't need all those things (cow or goat breast milk, flesh, bees vomit, eggs, fur) to survive, or thrive. ๐ฑ
I'm vegan. Because just like I know using single use plastics is shit for the environment, and avoid it, I also know animal agriculture is much much worse for the environment, and therefore choose not to support it.
๐ฑ
I'm vegan because I don't think my tastebuds matter more than someone's life. ๐ฑ
I'm vegan because I could no longer ignore the suffering my decisions caused. ๐ฑ
I'm vegan, because just like I refuse the plastic straw to help save marine life, I help them even more by not eating them.
๐ฑ
I'm vegan, because I give a shit. Because I want to be on the right side of history. If that bothers you, maybe look at why. What's stirring in your own soul/conscience? ๐ฑ

Totally Thrifted Friday! New hashtag anyone? ๐
๐ฑ
This outfit (bar the tights & scarf) is 100% thrifted!! That's right, 100% second hand. Things people no longer wanted. Just like all the 'trash' behind me people didn't want, that someone else made art from! I love this random art instillation ๐ One woman's trash, really is another woman's treasure ๐
๐ฑ
I love a good car boot rummage especially, and the jacket, t-shirt, skirt and boots are all from Pimlico car boot sale in London (on different occasions). I paid a messily ยฃ5 for the jacket, which is on its second winter. About ยฃ8.00 for the skirt & t-shirt which we're both brand new with labels!!! And believe or not ยฃ2 for the boots!! The hat I rummaged from my bf, he has so many so stealing one wasn't a big deal ๐
๐ฑ
Do you love thrifting too? Who would be up for joining me every Friday to share a thrifted tale, pic and experience?

Guess whoโs back ๐
๐ฑ
Itโs been ages since I posted on my personal account! Too long in fact! Its just been a crazy busy time.
๐ฑ
In that time I moved to a canal boat, which was a lot more hard work than I could have ever imagined. But, so worth it! For a sense of freedom, a more zero waste lifestyle and to feel a bit closer to nature in overbuilt up London. ๐ฑ
I also launched a T-Shirt range on my @greenerhabitsco store ๐ Including the โVegan Witchโ T-Shirt I am wearing in this pic. All of the Teeโs we sell are 100% organic and Fair Traded, and printed right here in the UK by wonderful ethical women led businesses using vegan ink. ๐ฑ
We launched 3 T-shirts in total, and you can see these designs over on @greenerhabitsco page or on WWW.GREENERHABITS.COM
๐ฑ
You can also read more about the T-shirts on the website, and see that we are linking one with @jacobsridgeanimalsanctuary with plans to link them all to a charity very soon! ๐ฑ
I plan to stop being rubbish and get back in the swing of posting on here and also blogging again (about boat life of course!) Because I love the connections made on here โค๏ธ
Since January this year, I stopped buying new things- clothes, shoes or anything else for that matter. I allowed myself a couple of second hand buys (primarily from charity shops for things I needed), but other than that I have bought practically nothing new for myself (underwear as an exception). ๐ฆ
There are two reasons for this- 1) I wanted to lead a more minimalist and zero waste lifestyle. 2) I realised โthingsโ donโt really make me happy. Maybe fleetingly, but not long term. In fact, the few times I did buy things spontaneously I always regretted it later. And the excess amount of crap in my room/life only stressed me out. What I never regret however, is spontaneous memory making ๐ฆ
What does make me happy is spending time with my dog, with friends, or travelling and going to events- basically collecting memories, not things. ๐ฆ

Some of you will remember a while back I did a 30 day minimalism challenge, where every single day I found an item/items around my flat which I no longer used, and found ethical ways of getting rid of them.
This included giving old books to charity, sending lightly worn bras to charity, recycling broken or no longer needed electrical items in appropriate ways, and giving items of clothing that no longer fit or were no longer used to friends.
I also made a point of buying absolutely nothing new for those 30 days (which I had already been doing since February), but this was also extended even when on holiday- huge challenge for me as I was a serial tourist shopper!
It was such a freeing experience, but one which also made me realise how emotionally attached I was to certain items! Crazy right!? How can we place so much value on things? It was a real challenge at times, letting go of a favourite piece of clothing which I loved but hadnโt fit for ages, or things which were gifted to me. But it was worth it for the feeling I got, the lightness as space opened up and I realised less really is more.
Today, after a massive clear out of what I had left, I did a car boot sale. It was great! It wasnโt my first one, but this one was different. Because Iโve made a minimalism vowel to myself- no more unnecessary junk! And hopefully no more carboots in the near future hey @natsunders ๐คฃโค๏ธ
P.S how cute is my little furry helper? ๐๐ถ
